Drafting the Uniform Collaborative Law Act was a three year process, during which the Collaborative community benefited greatly from the input of many who brought new perspectives to the Collaborative process. We have learned a great deal, particularly about the contractual aspects of our Participation Agreements, informed consent and screening for domestic abuse.

This workshop will look at critical contractual issues associated with Participation Agreements and present two IACP Model Participation Agreements authored principally by Byron Sher, retired Stanford Law contracts professor, Uniform Law Commissioner and member of the ULC UCLA Drafting Committee. Obtaining clients' informed consent and screening for domestic abuse, UCLA prerequisites to signing Participation Agreements, will also be explored. Whether your state enacts the UCLA or not, all Collaborative practitioners need to be aware of these important components of our work.
