Victims of domestic violence can be some of the most involved clients to have. Issues of safety and mental health must be dealt with before you can aid and empower the client to find independence. The presenter will share her experiences working in the county courts, getting a foot in the door, collaborative working relationships with the courts and police, how clients can self-advocate, understanding the roadblocks encountered in the courts and with law enforcement, and how to establish relationships and resources.
