With the roofing contractors busier than ever, the need for additional labor increases.? As roofing contractors hire more labor, it becomes more important to make sure that all important employment policies are put on paper and compiled in an Employee Handbook.? Having an effective Employee Handbook helps avoid employment related claims and litigation, saving the roofing contractors thousands of dollars.? During this session, we will discuss the most important, or essential, employment policies for every roofing contractors’ Employee Handbook.? Among the policies to be discussed are EEO policies, at-will employment, harassment and discrimination policies, and vacation and paid leave policies.?This session will be presented at an intermediate level.
1. Identify importance of having an Employee Handbook.
2. Evaluate key employment policies to be included in every Handbook.
3. Discuss how the Handbook is not a contract, and some policies should be prepared as employment agreements with employees, outside of the Handbook.
4. Evaluate the importance of having an effective Acknowledgment page and safe storage place for Acknowledgment pages.
