Smoking is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among Americans. Clinicians trained in hypnosis can have a critical impact on saving the health and lives of people addicted to nicotine. This workshop will describe interventions that can be used by physicians and other medical and mental health practitioners to promote smoking cessation through counseling, motivational interviewing and hypnosis. Attendees will be equipped with a framework for counseling patients/clients concerning the important benefits of smoking cessation.
They will learn effective hypnotic strategies and techniques that they can use in their work with smokers. Helping patients overcome nicotine addiction can have an enormous impact on the patient's health. Being successful helping people stop smoking can have a positive impact on the increase of the numbers of referrals and the growth of one's practice.
