This course will review the importance and safety of the dental team managing perinatal/pregnant patients while working with the medical team to coordinate care. Greater than 50% of prenatal patients are still not seeking dental care during or soon after pregnancy for a host of reasons. Some obstetric and dental providers remain unclear about national and state guidelines which define best practices for providing care to women and young children. Dental providers can utilize systems and promotion to garner referral from obstetrical providers and improve communication in general. The panelists will review guidelines and answer all questions on the topic.
