As the Shoah tragically demonstrated, family history does not play out in a simple, ancestral vacuum. The history of an area becomes personalized when we place our ancestors in that area and in the larger social and political context that affected their lives and decisions. Look at the ways you can discover the reasons behind your ancestors move from one place to another, and flesh out their lives for better understanding. This session will discuss how to tie genealogical facts to the history of the area in which our families lived.
