In this course, attendees will review and discuss the epidemiologic trends and biologic differences between oral and tonsillar cancers, particularly with regard to HPV. The distinction between transient and chronic HPV infection will be made and the distinction between low- and high-risk HPV subtypes will be explained. The instructor will review the evidence related to HPV vaccines and cervical cancer as well as tonsillar cancer.
