Advanced water treatment methods, such as UV and ozone, are gaining popularity recently despite their existence within the pool industry for some 3 decades or more.? The recent surge in interest has been a result of a broader awareness of health implications associated with chlorine resistant microorganisms such as cryptosporidium as well as chlorine disinfection byproducts such as chloramines. UV and Ozone are two technologies that can be used alone or in tandem to help address these and other water quality issues in swimming pools and spas. This presentation will address the underlying fundamentals of these two technologies and their benefits as applied to recreational water sanitization.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar, the participants will:
1.?Identify the role of UV in recreational water treatment.
2.?Evaluate the role of Ozone in recreational water treatment.
3.?Determine the role of Hydroxyl Radicals in recreational water treatment.
4.?Identify the sources of contamination in recreational waters.
5.?Evaluate the sizing UV and Ozone equipment.
6.?Determine the Return on Investment of UV and/or ozone devices in recreational water treatment.
