This workshop will introduce integrative healthcare providers to the ease and power of offering innovative hypnotherapeutic approaches in healthcare. Basic principles such as the Ericksonian utilization approach; direct and indirect suggestions; pacing; leading; reframing; conversational inductions; therapeutic storytelling and metaphors will be described with case illustrations and opportunities for experiential group practice and practice in dyads. Emphasis will be on acute and chronic pain, stress management and health promotion for children and adults. Additional focus will be on utilizing self-hypnosis for augmenting self-care.Learning Objectives:
- Identify the principles of direct and indirect/Ericksonian hypnotherapeutic approaches and the process of effective therapeutic communication with children and adults.
- Identify the rationale for hypnotherapeutically promoting comfort as a means of countering a patient’s maladaptive physiological and psychological response to pain and stress.
- Manifest flexibility and versatility by choosing, adapting and practicing approaches which fit the individual client instead of attempting to fit a client to standardized techniques.
