As nutrition and lifestyle choices move to the center of an integrative healthcare model, this session weaves together the art and science of integrative nurse coaching, functional medicine and clinical nutrition. Through the nurse/client therapeutic encounter and in listening to one’s story, the Integrative Nurse Coach skillfully focuses on one’s beliefs, hopes and strengths, guiding an individual in increasing nutrition awareness and food choices that lead to changing behaviors and to success for achieving one’s goals. Nurses are positioned to speak both the language of medicine and of healing, and Integrative nurse coaching combined with functional medicine understandings offer a new interprofessional clinical model for exploring, core energy imbalances, epigenetics, nutrigenomics, and how our internal and external environments impact our health and wellbeing.
