Electrical power systems maintenance is recognized by NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B as critical to being able to work safely on or near electrical systems and equipment. Upper-level managers may think of maintenance as strictly an overhead function, but the costs involved with poor maintenance can far exceed the outlay required to maintain power systems properly. An improperly-maintained electrical power system can be a hazard to operators and maintenance personnel, even if they are not interacting with the equipment. This session will provide information on the maintenance requirements for overcurrent protective devices and studies related to their failure.
