Preventing infection for certain at-risk patients is an important responsibility of the dentist and their staff. Understanding the current guidelines associated with antibiotic prophylaxis is essential for the dentist to provide the best care for patients. This course will review the current antibiotic prophylactic guidelines including identifying at-risk patients; making appropriate antibiotic choices; anticipating common adverse drug effects and preventing important drug-drug interactions.
