This presentation will describe the evidence for pathological and functional changes in the intestine of children on the autism spectrum with gastrointestinal symptoms. The mechanism and causes of this injury and how it might lead to neurological dysfunction will be discussed. Opportunities for treating and preventing the disease and its consequences will be set out as a basis for further research.
