Description:
There are four major elements that will determine the success and survival of direct and indirect esthetic restorations. They are tooth preparation, material choice, placement technique and curing method. This presentation will examine the scientific evidence to determine how each element will play a critical role in the professional's decision-making process when determining which materials, systems and techniques are best to utilize when doing direct and indirect esthetic restorations. Also, an update and scientific analysis of restorative materials, cements, bonding agents, impression materials, ceramics and Zirconia will be addressed, as well as treatment planning for each factor pending on the clinical situation.
Learning objectives:
Participants will be able to:
Enhance the esthetics and function of teeth
Understand the survival of restorations—complete vs. amalgam vs. ceramic vs. gold
Recognize a sound hygiene program and how it impacts the long term success of the restorative program
Undergo a review of adhesion and materials
Discover research-based step-by-step application techniques for improving adhesion, reducing polymerization shrinkage, microleakage and eliminating post-operative sensitivity
