Presenter: Justin K Houser As the Eastern Front in World War II moved westward, the Soviet Union set up satellite governments in the areas that it now controlled. Part of this effort included the resettlement of minority populations to make these new territories easier to control. Between 1944 and 1951, approximately 750,000 Ukrainians (including Lemkos and Boykos) were resettled from the Polish-Ukrainian border to areas in Ukraine as well as northern and western Poland.
