Addressing New Insect Pests of Forests & Ornamentals
Three invasive insects have the potential to be real "game changers" for the green industry in New England: Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB), Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) and Hemlock Wooly Adelgid (HWA). We all know the havoc that ALB has wreaked in the Worcester, MA area; EAB is knocking at our door; and HWA is making its way into northern New England. We better be prepared.
• Learn to how to simply identify these pests and quickly respond to new infestations
• Discuss the potential for successful biological control mixed with interim use of insecticides
• Consider the role that adelgid-resistant Eastern Hemlocks could play in the landscape
