Safety coaches are the key front-line staff who encourage and reinforce the use of HRO tools, tones, and behaviors among their peers, to prevent harm, and improve care outcomes. Implementing a successful safety coach program can be challenging in a culture where peer checking is not readily accepted, and power distance is prevalent. In this session, Providence St. Joseph?s safety coaches will share firsthand what works, and what doesn?t, when mentoring and encouraging their teams to put High Reliability into day to day practice, as well as their successes leading to increased patient and caregiver satisfaction.
