Patient experience leaders at UNC Health Care, a public academic medical center, along with the chair of the patient experience committee, who is also an orthopaedic surgeon, initiated the STAR strategy (Skills, Transparency, Awareness, Recognition) to laterally lead and engage the organization?s physicians. By approaching physicians from their mindset and involving them in the process through physician groups, they were able to engage them in the improvement efforts. This session?s presenters will discuss the individual aspects of the STAR approach, the change in culture, and their outcomes.
