Health care delivery in America has undergone seismic shifts and continues to change at an ever-increasing pace. Nationwide, physician burnout has risen to epidemic levels. Burnout is a threat not only to the welfare of caregivers, but also to the safety, quality and patient experience of care, and can also compromise access to the care patients need. To keep burnout at bay, Novant Health determined that a proactive approach to preventing burnout was needed and instituted programs to aid in provider resiliency, wellness, professional development and engagement with the organization.
