Trinity Health administered a combined colleague engagement and safety culture survey. To assess the impact of burnout on work unit culture, the safety culture survey asked four burnout questions based on a subset of the Maslach Burnout Inventory. At-risk teams were identified by using the combination of burnout scores and action planning readiness. Together, the survey results and action plan have helped to support those teams with interventions uniquely targeted to their needs. The transition away from burnout to resilience helps reframe action plans to be more mindful of self-care and introduces positive psychology into the workplace.
