I plan to summarize what I have learned from interviews with thirty-five families concerning their experience with vaccination. (Many more families were considered who did not meet my criteria.) These families all began by having their children vaccinated according to CDC recommendations for children born in whatever year each child was born. For various reasons each family decided to decrease and eventually stop vaccinating subsequent children, thereby meeting my criteria of two hundred children residing in households containing both vaccinated and completely unvaccinated children. Besides counting cases of each chronic health condition reported, I also looked for patterns in differing responses to vaccines in different families. Studying ?children? born between the years of 1970 and 2017 gave me the opportunity to examine the health effects (or disease effects) of the changing vaccine schedules. Other topics will be a description of a pertussis epidemic among some of the families, and the too common situation of spouses who do not agree about vaccination. I will finish with some advice for parents who decide not to vaccinate their children.
