What this small country lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in food diversity, natural beauty and hospitality. Slovenian traditional foods are a Europe in miniature, yet clearly distinctive. As in other cultures, food and cuisine clearly define Slovenians. The Slovenians' food traditions are a rich part of their everyday lives and holidays, their joys and sorrows, and major mile markers such as births and weddings. The past is also are strongly celebrated with food. And Slovene-Americans today enthusiastically celebrate their food heritage. Join me for a tour through Slovenia's small but beautiful and diverse food traditions and regions where they originate, which are as vibrant today as they were in the past. With an introduction by Debbie Smith, local chapter leader from Marietta, Georgia. Attendees will have a chance to win one of three copies of The Food and Cooking of Slovenia by Janez Bogataj, PhD.
