While searching for family history in Poland, Ukraine and Romania, I encountered witnesses who told their stories for the very first time. In two small villages, eyewitnesses with tears in their eyes told me that I was the first Jewish person that they met who was returning to find out what happened to their family. In Poland, a 95-year-old woman told me about the day a nearby family that had been in hiding was ratted out and killed. In Ukraine, an old man told me how he saw Jews lined up, shot and buried in mass graves. I will present videos of interviews I conducted as well as some documentation of my family I discovered in several archives.
