Hebrew epitaphs play a marginal role in genealogical research, rarely assigned the significance which they merit, however, notably the so-called eulogy, usually the longest part of the Hebrew epitaph, usually conceals far-reaching biographical information. This study?s objective is to show that the Hebrew registers and epitaphs supply primary information for genealogical work, ranging from eulogy, to Hebrew name vs. common name, to Hebrew date of death, age at death and - crucial for research - blessings.
