Historians have long thought that anti-semitism is sort of an axiom of history ? that it lies just below the surface in all western societies and can be easily triggered with a certain set of stimuli. Anti-semitic/hate incidents have DOUBLED in the past year. This should be a cause for concern for every American and especially every jewish American. This presentation will seek answers as to why, and look at the antecedents and impulses for anti-semitism in the American past, to try to shed some light on the present. From radical right wing hate groups to American heroes to the very banal corners of our society, the answers may surprise and even shock you, but they are issues we must nevertheless consider and confront since they are critical to our future. Is America still as safe for Jews as we have always assumed it to be? The presentation is generously illustrated.
