Tracing the Tribe is among Facebook's largest groups devoted to the practice of Jewish genealogy. Founded in 2011, though with roots going back to the 1990s, the group now has almost 30,000 members. As one of the administrators of the group (along with Robin Meltzer and founder Schelly Talalay Dardashti), the speaker has been involved in all aspects of this group's daily functioning. The presentation will show how the group works, what rules we keep, what the administrators do, how to join and participate, and what to expect. It will feature some of our success stories, where one or more members helped another to break through their "brick walls," often within hours of posting their query.
