Sephardi Voices (www.sephardivoices.com) is a digital audio-visual history project to collect and archive the narratives and photos of Jews displaced from North Africa, the Middle East, and Iran in the wake of Zionism and the establishment of the State of Israel and now living in Israel and the Diaspora. Embedded in the stories are those of Iberian Jews migrating to the Americas, several of whom settled in Florida. The presentation provides an overview of the project and highlights one family, Ibn Yulee, the father of Florida. It illustrates the power of genealogy and how Sephardi Voices revisions the narrative of Jews in Florida and thereby fosters the culture and the legacy of the heritage of the Sephardi/Mizrahi.
