On the break of WWI Kaunas was a Russian town. During the War, the Jews were ordered to leave their homes, and were expelled to the east. Among them were Nokhum and Riva KRAMARUTSKY. They ended up in Rosov-Na-Donu. When the War ended, Kaunas was in the newly independent Lithuania. This fact posed difficulties.
