The aging process is due to chronic inflammation and oxidative stress that damages the cell membranes, mitochondria and then the DNA. Once the DNA gets damage beyond repair this accelerates premature aging, increase the risk of chronic disease, cancer and early death. Optimizing the hormones is essential to keep the DNA healthy and also to be healthy. This talk will review the literature on hormone replacement on reducing inflammation and also protecting from DNA damage. In some studies it has been shown to increase the telomeres (protective ends of the DNA). Nutritional support is also crucial in protecting ones DNA and should be incorporated into a wellness clinic.
Learning Objectives:
-> Understand that chronic inflammation or excessive oxidative stress increases the aging process through DNA damage
-> Understand that difference of hormonal replacement with bio identical hormones versus synthetic hormones.
-> Understand that using bioidentical hormones can protect the DNA or even increase the telomere lengths.
