This course is designed to educate roofing contractors on code and regulatory initiatives that impact roofing system choice and installation methods and how to comply while installing the best? roofing system for their property owner. Roofing contractors have one over-riding purpose when installing a new low slope roofing system ? that is to provide the property owner with a roofing system that will perform.? Roofing systems today not only have to keep water out (perform), but are being asked to contribute to a wide variety of other needs of the building envelope ? and often times, these contributions are regulated by mandates, initiatives, and code requirements.? Roofing contractors should not only understand what is driving these initiatives, but how they can navigate through these requirements and still install a roofing system that will perform.? This session will provide an open discussion of regulatory and code driven initiatives that impact roofing system choice and installation and what decisions can be made to help insure system performance and compliance. This presentation is geared towards a commercial audience and is presented at an intermediate level.
1. Discuss what is driving many of the regulations that are changing the products and methods used in low slope commercial roofing system installation.
2. Increase the ability to avoid conflicts between new science and roof performance.
3. Evaluate critical thinking skills regarding roof system performance and meeting demands of regulations and mandates.
