Many states and localities? adoption of clean air initiatives are changing the materials that can be used in the construction of a low slope roofing system. These mandates are literally "outlawing" some products that have been used for years. This session will review by state/region what products are affected, when regulations are scheduled to go into effect, and how compliance to these regulations is changing what roofing materials and methods will be on roof tops in 2015 and beyond. Material will be presented at an intermediate level.
Learning Objectives:
- Determine what materials are falling under compliance mandate requirements in different parts of the country
- Identify where to go to find information specific to geographic regions/states and how to translate from "code speak" to what roofing products may be covered by the regulation
- Recognize what information roofing material suppliers and manufacturers need to provide roofing contractors so that they can insure they are compliant with the clean air regulations in their market
- Find out what new materials and methods are being driven by the need to balance VOC regulations with the needs of the low slope roofing market
