Attendees will be introduced to NRCA’s online applications, EnergyWise Roof Calculator and Roof Wind Designer. This session will also discuss the roofing-related energy code requirements using the American Society of Heating and Air-conditioning Engineers standard, ASHRAE 90.1, "Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings" and International Energy Conservation Code. Furthermore, the session will educate attendees on how to determine roof systems’ design wind loads using American Society of Civil Engineer’s standard,"ASCE-7, Minimum Design Loads for Buildings." Session material will be presented at an advanced level and is primarily applicable to commercial contractors.

Joan P. Crowe, AIA, Director of Technical Services, NRCA, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Studies and a Master of Architecture degree - Structures Option from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Ms. Crowe is a licensed architect in the State of Illinois. Prior to joining NRCA, she was employed by a nationally-recognized architectural and engineering consulting firm. For NRCA, she is responsible for development of technical documents, responding to requests for technical assistance and contributing articles to NRCA's Professional Roofing magazine.
