Starting in July of 2008, Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) and the Community Business Partnership (CBP) have collaborated to offer a unique Career Studies Certificate Program in Entrepreneurship. The program is geared towards preparing students to create, operate and grow small businesses. The first class graduated in the summer of 2009. The second class is currently on track to graduate in November of 2010.NVCC has subsequently collaborated with three other non-profits. This presentation will use the NVCC/CBP Entrepreneurship Career Studies Certificate program as a case study in how to develop an effective, successful partnership between a nonprofit and a community college.
