For decades surgical periodontics was purely resective in nature. The results were often unesthetic, uncomfortable and poorly functional for patients. Recent advances in regenerative therapy including bone replacement grafts, monocortical block grafts, sinus lifts and implant assisted guided bone regeneration have altered our ability to surgically treat advanced periodontal cases. This course will provide an evidence-based update of guided tissue regeneration and regenerative periodontics in an overview of these therapies. It will provide attendees with information that will be invaluable for decision making and treatment planning for patients with advanced disease or significant residual defects.
