Dental degree, University of Florida College of Dentistry; private practice, Miami, FL.
Description:
An overview of evidenced-based dentistry will be provided by using PowerPoint with video clips in a fun and enlightening presentation; not only what it is but just as importantly what it’s not. The different levels of evidence and what sources we can use to answer our clinical questions in dentistry and medicine will be explained. The ADA’s new web site for researching clinical questions–and how to utilize it without taking up too much of your time-will be shown. The speaker will discuss Practice-Based Research Networks using his involvement as one of the six practitioners on the executive board of one of the three research networks. How, why and by whom they were formed will be explained. The speaker will show how many of the clinical questions in our practice can be answered by both EBD and PBRNs and when there are no clear answers what we as practitioners can do to improve our patients' dental care.
