When a patient presents with a bleeding disorder, how should dental practitioners proceed to manage the complexity of the case? This lecture course will provide dental professionals with general information for managing patients with bleeding disorders. Specifics of this course include: basic physiology of the hemostatic system; common bleeding disorders and their etiologies; requisite laboratory testing; and current evidence-based guidelines for the purpose of developing individualized treatment plans for such patients.
Sandra D’Amato-Palumbo has a dental hygiene degree from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut and is the Assistant Professor in the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of New Haven.
