The Texas State Fire Marshal Office has gone through a very difficult period with much media scrutiny on the quality of its fire investigations. The Texas Forensic Science Commission issued reports in 2009 and 2011 resulting in 17 recommendations to improve the quality of fire investigations. Attendees will learn what improvements were made and why this is not just a Texas State Fire Marshal Office issue--all fire investigators and leaders of these organizations need to understand their risk exposure.
