A facility fire is always of concern--place that fire in a warehouse, seated 30 ft (9.1m) high in a double row rack, and the concern grows expotentially. This session will introduce a new incident command application used by P&G to determine fire activity and size within a sprinklered area without requiring immediate entry into the fire area. The engineering concepts of a sprinklered warehouse (control, suppression, out of control and extinguishment) will also be reviewed as they pertain to incident command. Some questions we will address: How long do we wait? When can we turn off the sprinklers? When can we enter the racking system? What to do when the fire growth exceeds the riser hydraulic demand or the fire pump demand?
