Fire protection systems serve a number of different purposes depending on the overall fire safety strategy, and the implementation of applicable building and fire regulations. The proper function and performance of these systems rely on numerous factors associated with their design, installation, commissioning, and follow-on inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) activities. While system designers routinely focus on the relevant design and installation standards, the associated commissioning, integrated testing, and ITM standards might not be considered during the system design process. This presentation explores the need to make appropriate reference to such ITM, integrated testing, and commissioning documents to best and more economically facilitate the necessary ITM activities and ensure proper system performance and functionality.
