Composite intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) filled with ignitible liquids represent a severe fire hazard when stored or when used for dispensing in manufacturing areas of a plant. Providing economical and practical fire protection for IBCs in manufacturing areas is a challenging task due to the pool fire size these units can produce. This session will discuss the concepts used to develop a containment system for use in any manufacturing area with composite IBCs regardless of sprinkler design, as well as the validation testing that was done.
