The fire service and other emergency first responders are currently benefiting from enhanced-existing and newly-developed electronic technologies. Fire fighters are operating in an increasingly sensor-rich environment that is providing vast amounts of highly useful data. The "smart" fire fighters of the future are envisioned as being able to fully utilize this data to perform their jobs in a highly effective and efficient manner. This presentation will provide an interim report on efforts to develop a research roadmap to address the needs of tomorrow's smart fire fighter.
