Section 240.87 of the 2011 NECĀ® requires the use of arc flash reduction maintenance systems, or other arc flash mitigation means, in certain instances. The proposed changes to this section in the 2014 edition may expand the instances where such systems are needed. This session will draw attention to the issues which should be addressed when applying arc flash reduction maintenance systems. These issues include where the function needs to be located, locking and feedback capability, arc flash labeling needs, and code compliance.
