Given by the chairman of the NFPA 110/111 Technical Committee on Emergency Power Supplies, this session will discuss proposals for NFPA 110–2013 and NFPA 111–2013, along with their submitters' rationales. Technical committee decisions on the proposals will also be covered along with their justifications. Proposals for 110 and 111 and the TC actions taken on them will be in the public review stage during this conference, and this session is intended to facilitate public input and debate on these important emergency power supply systems and SEPSSs. The speaker, an acknowledged industry expert on emergency power systems, will also review emergency power testing and maintenance issues and their impact on operational reliability.

David Stymiest is a registered PE in 3 states, AHA Certified Healthcare Facility Manager, ASHE Fellow, and Chairman of the NFPA 110/111 Committee on Emergency Power Supplies. He is a hospital engineer, an accomplished educator, trainer, speaker, and author for dozens of conferences and publications including several NFPA conferences. He is also an acknowledged leading industry expert in the management, operation, testing, and application of emergency power systems.
