The Internet has been blamed for providing information that has modeled dangerous behaviors (YouTube) as well as hailed as a source of current science and knowledge. This session will explore how to be a good consumer, highlight the myriad ways that the Internet can be integrated into positive fire safety education, and review some of the more destructive uses and also identify some possible safeguards.
Paul Schwartzman
is a licensed mental health counselor, providing services to children, adolescents, and families in the Rochester, NY area. His interest in the field of juvenile firesetting developed while on staff at University of Rochester where he participated in the study of juvenile fire play and fire setting. Paul was a member of the original research team for the Fire Related Youth Unit for City of Rochester Fire Department and the BIC preschool firesafety education curriculum.
