Industrial facility designs often result in some unique construction features. In this instance, nonstructural steel penetrations were made through two-hour fire barriers. In addition, a structural steel beam was in the plane of a two-hour fire barrier and exposed on both sides of the wall. In order to determine the appropriate fire protection, small-scale tests, modeling, and full-scale fire tests were conducted. Learn about the results of the analyses and how the features were protected.
