The hazards of combustible metals and metal dusts are well documented. NFPA 484: Standard for Combustible Metals, identifies the controls that are necessary for the prevention and control of fire and explosions involving combustible metals. This session will provide you with knowledge of the primary hazards of combustible metals and highlight the principal controls that are necessary to maintain a safe working environment.
Tom Christman
, CSP, Consultant, has been involved with combustible metals for over 35 years at the Y-12 National Security Complex and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Mr. Christman has been a Principal Member of NFPA 484 since 1994 and currently Chairs the Committee.
Kevin Kreitman
has over 30 years experience in the fire service and dealing with the hazards of Combustible Metals when they are involved in fire. Chief Kreitman is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer program and has been a Principle Member of the NFPA 484 committee on Combustible Metals since 1998, and represents the NFPA 484 committee on the NFPA 400 Hazardous Chemical Code committee. Chief Kreitman is the author of several papers and articles on the hazards of Combustible Metals and Dusts and has been very active in providing information in the Combustible Metal Standard and to members of the fire service on the safe and proper handling of fires involving Combustible Metals.
