This session covers the unique hazard analysis factors associated with flammable liquid burning situations and the various NFPA extinguisher coverage recommendations that apply. Topics you will learn about include flammable liquid and gas Class B fire classification, the numerical fire rating system and equipment selection factors, and hazard analysis and flammable liquid burning configurations. Other subjects include properly addressing fuels of less than appreciable depth, obstacle fire hazards, fuels of appreciable depth, gravity/three-dimensional fire hazards, and pressure fire hazards.
Mr. J.R. Nerat
is the Technical Manager for Badger/Kidde Fire Protection, a leading worldwide manufacturer of fire protection equipment that is part of the UTC organization. He has over 30 years of fire protection experience in the design, testing, installation, application and service of fire protection equipment. His responsibilities keep him in very close working contact with various manufacturers, installers, service companies, end-users, testing agencies, insurance interests, key legal firms and authorities having jurisdiction. Mr. Nerat is a master classroom instructor for the "Texas A&M International Industrial Fire School" and has provided fire protection training all over the world to a wide range of interests related to hazard analysis and specialized industrial forms of fire protection equipment. Mr. Nerat currently holds principle appointments on several NFPA technical committees which include NFPA-10, NFPA-17, NFPA-17A and NFPA-610, NFPA-410 and NFPA-385.
