Dentists treating obstructive aleep apnea (OSA) should be aware of the concurrent chronic pain that affects the quality of sleep, so that proper reciprocal referral can be made for optimal patient treatment. This course will explain the epidemiology and comorbidity of sleep-disordered breathing including OSA, craniofacial pain inclusive of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD), primary headaches (migraine, tension type, cluster), and chronic pain syndromes (fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and irritable bowel). In addition, the increased risks of medical comorbidities with OSA will be covered.
