Dentistry has one of the highest stress and burnout rates of all professions. Stress and burnout, as a result have become a challenge to the dental profession. Society is now accepting the importance of stress management in the broad scope of our lives and in all livelihoods and mind-body practices are becoming more mainstream. Scientific research has grounded the ancient practices of yoga and meditation as effective ways to reduce psychological and physiological stress resulting in a mounting global trend and inquiry toward them. This course will outline the stresses and challenges of the dental profession and discuss how the dentist?s understanding of self care and the practice of self regulation skills can improve their overall well-being and impact patient care.
