The management of patients who have an edentulous maxilla often presents with complex risk areas, including physiological, anatomic, psychological, and social challenges. Management depends on an accurate diagnosis in each of these risk areas and the development of multiple alternative therapy strategies for a successful care plan. The care plan may involve a number of oral health, surgical, and prosthodontic specialties and the development of this care plan
should be based on the current best evidence-supported by Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG). This course will present, in part, the outcomes of CPG developed by the Academy of Osseointegration at its recent Summit meeting. Oral implant therapy is often an important part of the care plan, but its implementation needs to be carried out using a holistic and comprehensive view for the best outcomes for our patients.
